Stellest™ Lenses: A New Way to Slow Myopia Progression in Kids

Book Appointment

We’re thrilled to announce that our practice is now offering Stellest™ lenses for myopia management, a brand-new option just approved by the FDA in September 2025. These innovative lenses have been shown to significantly slow myopia progression in children by helping control how the eye grows over time.

While these lenses have already been helping children across Europe and Canada for years, they’re now finally available in the U.S. and we’re proud to be among the first to offer them.

What Makes Stellest™ Lenses So Special?

If you look closely at a pair of Stellest™ lenses, you’ll notice (in just the right lighting!) faint rings within the lens. These nearly invisible circles create a special optical effect that helps “trick” the eye into slowing its natural growth rate.

Why is this important? Because myopia (nearsightedness) happens when the eye grows too long, too quickly, which causes images to focus in front of the retina instead of on it. Over time, that elongation can lead to stronger prescriptions and even higher risks of future eye problems.

By gently guiding how light enters the eye, Stellest™ lenses can slow down eye growth—helping kids’ vision stay clearer, longer.

What Is Myopia, and Why Does It Matter?

Myopia, or nearsightedness, means your child can see up close but struggles with things farther away, like the classroom board or street signs. It’s one of the most common vision issues in children and it’s becoming more widespread as screen time and indoor activities increase.

For many of us—Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z—there wasn’t much we could do when our eyesight got worse each year. We just kept getting stronger glasses. But today, we actually can do something about it.

Modern myopia management treatments can slow down the rate at which a child’s prescription worsens, protecting their vision long-term.

Why Early Treatment Matters

The sooner we start myopia management, the more impact we can have.

Research shows that starting around age 6 or 7 can lead to the biggest long-term benefit, though it’s never too late to help slow progression.

At our office, we’ve seen firsthand how effective these treatments can be. Whether it’s Stellest™ lenses, myopia-control contact lenses, or specialized eye drops, we can create a custom plan for every child to help preserve their sight.

What to Expect from Our Myopia Management Program

Our myopia management services are not covered by insurance, but they’re designed to provide consistent care and monitoring.

Children enrolled in our program are typically seen every 3 months to track eye growth and check that their treatment is working effectively.

Take the First Step Toward Clearer, Healthier Vision

If your child’s prescription keeps increasing each year, or if myopia runs in your family, now is the perfect time to explore Stellest™ lenses or other management options.
